Present

Fear not.

Do not set into motion that which needs to remain still.

Quiet, be still.

Don’t overlook His face in the storm.

His miraculous feeding fresh in the minds, yet hearts remain cold.

The Answer-Giver

In the midst of the storm, seek His face not the calm.  In the fire of the furnace, seek His heart not the rain.  In the crying out of “Why?,” seek the Answer-Giver not the answer.  To praise Him in the pain is to remove the focus from ourselves and place it on Him.  He is Good, Right, Just, Faithful.  He will give us a song in the night.

He is wooing you from the jaws of distress to a spacious place free from restriction, to the comfort of your table laden with choice food.  Job 36:16

Just the Beginning

That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raise him from the dead, you will be saved.  Romans 10:9

Lord.  Owner.  Boss.  Authority.  It’s so much more than fire insurance or a ticket to heaven.  Not all who say “Lord,” but he who does His will.  It’s all a matter of the heart.  He seeks true love from us.  He seeks to be our True Love.

Refuge

But let all who take refuge in You be glad; let them ever sing for joy.  Spread your protection over them, that those who love Your name may rejoice in You.                    Psalm 5:11 (NIV)

But you’ll welcome us with open arms when we run for cover to you.  Let the party last all night!  Stand guard over our celebration.  You are famous, God, for welcoming God-seekers, for decking us out in delight.    Psalm 5:11 (MSG)

Wisdom

The fear of the Lord.  It begins.  Awe.  Reverence.  Worship.  Not a cringing, cowering, don’t-strike-me-down fear.  Holy hands lifted high, knees bowed down in adoration.  Totally surrendered.  Head over heels in love.  Jumping with joy because there’s just no stopping you.  Heaven on earth.

Fall

As the calendar advances and summer begins to fade, there is a sudden energy in the air.  New beginnings bring excitement and a little uncertainty.  New schools, new teachers, new friends, new schedule.  Routine.  It’s a beautiful thing.  Time to finally unpack the vacation suitcases.  The air becomes more crisp, less soggy.  The leaves begin their seasonal dance of starting to change into their brightly colored foliage.  The mornings have become brisk warming to pleasant.  The world magically blooms in pumpkin.
