Fear flees in the face of Jesus.
The valley of the shadow of death. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid. Fear. Held captive by fear. The shadow of death. Not actually death itself. The shadow may fall on my path, but the shadow itself is not to be feared. Can a shadow do any harm except to inspire dread? He saw the wind? How can you see the wind? The effects of the wind, sure. But the actual, physical wind? Unlike the shadow the wind is unseen, its damage, however, is painfully evident. Fear no evil for I am with you. I Am. Peter took His eyes from Jesus and fear became his focus. Teach me to be captured by courage not held a captive to fear.
Do not set into motion that which needs to remain still.
Quiet, be still.
Don’t overlook His face in the storm.
His miraculous feeding fresh in the minds, yet hearts remain cold.
Set apart, not set aside.
Being prepared, not overlooked.
In the course of time, fill the time with prayer.
Overlooked by human eyes, handpicked by the Divine.
Grasp desperately for a deeper understanding of the Father.
Search hungrily for His heartbeat.
Run with perseverance the race ahead.
Steadily fix my gaze on Him.
Live successfully, die unafraid.
In the midst of the storm, seek His face not the calm. In the fire of the furnace, seek His heart not the rain. In the crying out of “Why?,” seek the Answer-Giver not the answer. To praise Him in the pain is to remove the focus from ourselves and place it on Him. He is Good, Right, Just, Faithful. He will give us a song in the night.
He is wooing you from the jaws of distress to a spacious place free from restriction, to the comfort of your table laden with choice food. Job 36:16
That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raise him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
Lord. Owner. Boss. Authority. It’s so much more than fire insurance or a ticket to heaven. Not all who say “Lord,” but he who does His will. It’s all a matter of the heart. He seeks true love from us. He seeks to be our True Love.
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16 (NIV)
How blessed the man you train, God, the woman you instruct in your Word, providing a circle of quiet within the clamor of evil, while a jail is being built for the wicked. God will never walk away from his people, never desert his precious people. Rest assured that justice is on its way and every good heart put right. Psalm 94:12-15 (MSG)
